Lockdown hasn’t been lifted — avoid fake news

Babajide Sanwo-Olu, governor of Lagos state, has debunked the rumour that the lockdown in the state has been lifted.

President Muhammadu Buhari had ordered a lockdown in the federal capital territory (FCT), Lagos and Ogun states in a bid to halt the spread of coronavirus.

Many states also banned large gatherings and restricted movement. However, some of them have relaxed the restrictions to allow residents stock up ahead of the Easter celebrations.

But Sanwo-Olu asked Lagosians to ignore the rumour of a relaxed curfew.

He asked them to think long term, spend the Easter holiday with loved ones at home and stay safe.

“The true meaning of Good Friday and Easter is the power of sacrifice. This weekend, the sacrifice of staying at home and social distancing is required to stop the spread of COVID19. Avoid fake news, the lockdown hasn’t been lifted. Think longterm, StayAtHomeAndStaySafe,” he said.

“The Federal Government has announced a public holiday, do spend time with your loved ones AT HOME. We are thankful for technology; I will be worshipping virtually with my family on Easter Sunday. Kindly say a prayer for all our health workers.”
